'Dear John' inspired by Mesa College student
The recently released Hollywood film, Dear John is inspired by the life of a current Mesa student and his story of finding romance during a leave from the army. Todd Vance, 28, is Nicholas Sparks' cousin, the author of Dear John. Vance said Sparks based the novel-turned-film on his life while serving in the United States Army.
